The Galata Tower, a medieval stone structure located in Istanbul's Galata/Karaköy district, stands at 66.90 meters tall and is adorned with a cone-shaped cap. It was once the city's tallest building upon construction in 1348 during an expansion of the Genoese colony, and served as Christea Turris (Tower of Christ). The tower boasts nine stories, with an observation deck at 51.65 meters that provides a panoramic view of Istanbul's historic peninsula and surroundings. Despite its height, the structure has an external diameter of only 16.45 meters at the base, with walls measuring 3.75 meters thick, and an internal diameter of 8.95 meters. The tower sits 35 meters above sea level and, without its ornamental top, measures 62.59 meters tall. This architectural marvel offers a breathtaking view of the city's landscape, including the Golden Horn and the Bosphorus.
