The Fun Burglary at the Mansion - V2

NOTE: I have noticed a small mistake with the doors for the purple and orange rooms - the files are correct, but in my picture above I have glued the orange doors to the purple room, and vice versa. This has been printed finally. And it has turned out well! I have not glued the entire model together, instead I have created 7 sections: the top and bottom, the four corners, and the center. These just slide together when playing. I may end up gluing them together later, but for now they remain separate. This is version two of the original - it's a complete reproduction with a focus on assembly over painting. I have also made the model overall taller (48mm vs 35.2mm) and more detailed. (I have also removed the LEGO pegs). All pieces can be built on a small build platform with some exceptions, but these could be easily split and glued together. In fact, you may want to take some pieces that are the same color (the stairs for example) and print them as one piece to avoid gluing them. The included build script creates the STL files you see attached using the attached SCAD file. General assembly of rooms works as follows: The room plate is glued on top of the interior wall plate. This is slotted into the two exterior walls, and finally a corner cap is glued where the exterior walls adjoin. As for the keyholders, you need to use the two special ones for the gold room and the blue room's window - they have a cut-out in them that accommodates the nearby room's corner cap that would otherwise intersect. Print Settings Printer: Original Prusa I3 MK2 Notes: Corners should be printed with supports. The exterior walls are printed with their inside facing on the build plate (and their outside facing pointed up). The keys have built-in support and should be printed upside down. In terms of kerf, it would be possible to directly add it - but currently the models do not have any because the Prusa printer I am using does a great job at part accuracy. I do have to apply some sanding for the parts to fit, but it is good for the glue to sand the edges anyway. I would also say that by assembling it as seven separate sections, there are some gaps that would need to be filled if I decided to take the seven and combine them as one - I think that this could be avoided if I had taken care to assemble it as all one piece. (I could also take the hallway pieces and print them as a single piece to add accuracy). One last caveat: The room and interior plates do not have mitering, but all of them need it except for the white room - however, instead of modifying the model I simply cut the edges with a pair of flush cutters.
