The formal garden at Hughenden

Take a summer stroll at Hughenden this year, inspired by the majestic peacock that once roamed its grounds. Disraeli, the estate's former owner, was known for his exotic birds and kept three of these stunning creatures in the gardens. Our Senior Gardener, Piers Horry, has crafted a vibrant annual display mimicking a peacock's tail feathers using an assortment of green, blue, violet, and indigo plants that cascade down like a shimmering waterfall. To complete this breathtaking scene, a life-size figure of a peacock will proudly sit atop the parterre's fountain and brazier. Grab a refreshing drink and take a seat on our deck chairs to admire the vibrant spectacle up close.
