"The Force" controlled RC Thunder Trax
thingiverse
This project revolutionizes the Air Hogs Thunder Trax RC vehicle by replacing its standard remote with an accelerometer-enabled gauntlet that responds to hand movements. To control the vehicle, simply move your hand in the direction you want it to go - a truly intuitive experience. A feat worthy of Master Yoda's approval. This project was inspired by individuals with disabilities affecting one arm, leaving them with limited mobility in just their right arm. This hack empowers them to enjoy the thrill of controlling an RC vehicle with ease, using only one arm. The project was designed with education in mind as well. All circuits are openly visible, allowing users to see all components required for functionality. All printing instructions, construction details, and program listings can be found in the attached Build Instructions PDF file. Additionally, we created a STEM educational handout to provide to students at science fairs, maker fairs, and STEM expos. Enjoy this innovative project!
