The Flying Auger
thingiverse
Check out this video for the design and testing of the Flying Auger: https://youtu.be/dmNHjV48ifA. For the Teal Drone Cover Remix contest, I created a flying auger cover that drops seeds as the drone flies by. Seeds have a better chance of thriving when covered with some soil, but they can still grow well even when tossed on top of it. With this design, you can add seeds into the hopper, replace the cover, and fly away dropping seeds along your path. This design features a 629:1 propeller:auger gear ratio, which allows the auger to spin slowly and evenly for slow seed dispersal, and provides high torque so it won't get stuck. Easily spread wildflower seeds over an entire hilltop or grass seed over a large lawn. The empty weight of this device is 163 grams.
