The Flute

The World's Earliest Flute: A Discovery In a lecture, I will discuss an ancient musical find - vulture-bone flutes from a European cave. These flutes, discovered in 2008 at Hohle Fels cave, Germany, are the world's oldest recognizable instruments. Dating back 40,000 years ago to the Stone Age settlement period by modern humans, they push the boundaries of our understanding of early music. As my Rhino experiment, I printed a replica without rafts or supports, later gluing two parts together. While it may not play, this artifact showcases the rich history of human musicality.
