The Ferris Wheel
thingiverse
This is a vibrant red, white, and blue Ferris wheel featuring an elastic band pulley system to turn the wheel with the crank. Twelve separate carts spin independently as the wheel rotates. Three print jobs are required for the different colors--one color per job--and they can be printed on a MakerBot Replicator (5th Edition). Be prepared for significant assembly tasks! Gorilla Glue is recommended, but some parts can connect by friction to snap together neatly. Print Settings Rafts: Use Yes Supports: Don't Worry About It Resolution: Print at .15, or use a smaller size (.10) for the smaller components Infill: Printed with 10%, though higher infill is highly recommended Notes: Rafts removed from the wheel bottoms were difficult to detach from my printer. Was this an error on my end? Post-Printing How I Created This Design This design was crafted in SketchUp Make, and exported as an STL file for MakerBot use. Ensure the model is properly scaled by choosing "Inches -> mm" in MakerBot settings. Video of the Wheel in Action
