This family scene is a marble sculpture created by Leopoldo Neves de Almeida during his lifetime (October 18, 1898 - April 28, 1970). For more than half a century of intense activity, Leopoldo de Almeida became a leading figure in Portuguese sculpture of the twentieth century. He is especially one of the best expressions of modernizing official statuary implemented by the New State. Additionally, he is the author of a vast work including portraits, busts, bas-reliefs, statues and monuments of figures from history and Portuguese culture. This sculpture depicts a family scene with a male and female holding a child together in their arms. Two small birds are positioned in front of the figures. This object is part of "Scan The World".
