I uncover my eyes after 54 years, and the T-43 Navigator Trainer's former competition comes into view. Jack Welch's strategy of setting stretch goals takes a different path once GE partners with a French company. We're now working with Dassault Solid Works. Bear with me as I transform the WSJ wireframe ad for a 777 into a fully digital map. The complexity of its sharp-edged parts makes it difficult to 3D print with my current relationships. The cockpit, replete with annunciators similar to those found in every Boeing airplane from the 707 onwards, also features Multimode flat panels and a full keyboard character set for each pilot. Over time, I've encountered mechanical controls, pneumatic controls, and electrical controls, but here I was looking for digital controls – not just electrical or electronic ones. The crux of the matter for me was when I discovered a hybrid digital controller with analog simulation of equations of motion using amplifiers to apply Sine and Cosine in a 2D missile flight path. Later, I encountered fully digital fast Fourier transform mechanization and even the Motorola MCS 320 controller after being introduced to the INTEL 8008 and Z80 digital computer chips through documentation. At that point, I held back and let the engineers do their thing. I've showcased the pigeon hole airplane galley bulkhead as a novel design well within SolidWorks' best practices, which include fasteners and assemblies that don't move or "throw" an assembly together as it goes together – not too loose, not too tight. You can use the "explode" command to see what you can break out by opening a download of the complete .obj file, creating an .3ds file in your workflow that can be imported into NETFABB and exported as a .stl file, which can then be opened in Solidworks and saved as a .part or .step file – more common file types. Unfortunately, I'm unable to create .iges files this way.
