The Element Clock
thingiverse
I'm excited to give my niece another Christmas present, and this one's going to be especially meaningful since she's interested in chemistry. I came up with the idea of designing a clock that incorporates elements instead of numbers - it was a unique touch that I thought would really stand out. I used SketchUp to bring the design to life. The pointers on the clock are actually a remix from a design I found online at Thingiverse, and they added just the right amount of flair to the overall piece. Since I don't have access to a multicolor printer, I tried printing the lines, but unfortunately, it didn't turn out as planned. So, I ended up using a permanent marker pen to add the finishing touches. The clockwork mechanism is actually from an eBay find - it's a quiet, quartz-driven piece that really adds to the overall functionality of the clock.
