The Eagle - Rhode Island Bicentennial
sketchfab
Local artist Gail Whitsitt-Lynch received a matching grant from both the National Endowment for the Arts and Rhode Island State Council on the Arts in 1976 to design this statue, honoring Rhode Island's bicentennial anniversary. Using the ferrocement method, which combines equal amounts of metal and cement, she crafted the eagle. The eagle's surface is covered with marble dust, giving it a sparkling appearance that has become iconic over time. Thousands of new United States citizens have had their photos taken with The Eagle since its creation!
