The Door Handler v2

The Door Handler v2

This is the next iteration of the door handler, boasting an enhanced design that incorporates valuable protection lids on both sides to prevent accidental contact with the handle area. The added complexity yields a safer experience, potentially transforming it into a functional tool. Moving forward, I plan to implement an outside pocket holder secured by magnets, rendering manual carrying obsolete. This development aims to significantly boost safety and usability. Notably, the current lid alignment is not perfect, leaving some gaps between them and the jaws. I intend to refine this aspect as well. For comprehensive information regarding this project's development process and concerns, please refer to "The Door Handler" project overview. A key design change involves two lids pivoting around a single axis - a securing screw positioned in front of the tool. The original rubber band holder has been repurposed for attaching a single rubber band that retracts the lids into their default position. When pushed against a handle, the lids are forced back, allowing secure grip and retraction when the tool is pulled away. To assemble this iteration, one M3 screw (22mm to 24mm in length) along with its corresponding nut will be required. Currently, I'm using an overly long dummy screw for testing purposes, but have ordered suitable replacements - a 22mm M3 screw and matching cap nuts that will provide a better fit.
