This replica of the Confession Dial prop from series 9 of Doctor Who showcases the intricacies of a Time Lord's last will and testament. The dial allows a dying Time Lord to confront their deepest fears and make amends before their mind is uploaded into the Matrix. While recovering from illness, I rewatched series 9 of Doctor Who for entertainment purposes. The Confession Dial concept resonated with me, and its prop was visually stunning. I was captivated by the intricate carvings on top, which appeared complex yet were actually basic geometric shapes arranged in an intriguing manner. As I regained my strength and felt restless, I decided to replicate this prop. First, I traced the designs on the top using Illustrator, based on official design artwork released by the BBC. Next, I exported the design as an SVG into Fusion 360 and built the disc around it. This was my first attempt at carving a design into an object in Fusion 360, so there were some trial-and-error moments involved. However, the project eventually came together, and I'm extremely pleased with the result. The dial shown in the images is the first print I made of it, and it turned out exceptionally well. Although I plan to paint and weather the dial, I haven't had the opportunity to do so yet. Print Settings: Printer Brand: FlashForge Printer Model: FlashForge Creator Pro Rafts: Not Necessary Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.1mm Infill Percentage: 7% Notes: I printed with a raft and supports, but the raft might not be essential if you have good bed adhesion. The dial's backside has no details, so first-layer quality doesn't matter much. I've found that an infill percentage of 7% is optimal for most of my printing, as Simplify3D sometimes has unusual ideas about what infill percentages mean.
