This CAD drawing is a theoretical lander designed to explore the methane lakes of the Saturnian moon Titan. It was designed by a group of ten students from various Universities around Texas and managed by me. The heat shield is a carbon copy of the heat shield used by the Huygens spacecraft probe which landed on Titan in 2005. The Defiant (whose design was completed before the announcement of the Dragonfly mission) bears remarkably similar design characteristics to the Dragonfly rotorcraft which which will study prebiotic chemistry on the surface of Titan in 2034. This cad model was the culmination of several months of breakneck work by our design team.
