Jesus Christ in Death, or The Redeemer Dead is a statue created by Irish sculptor John Hogan while living in Rome. Hogan produced three versions of the statue early in the 19th century: A first version (1829) can be found in St. Teresa's Church, Dublin, Ireland; A second version (1833) is located in South St. Finbarr's Church, Cork, Ireland; The third and final version (1854) resides in the Basilica of St. John the Baptist, St. John's, Newfoundland. This sculpture is a plaster cast made from Carrara marble type housed in St. John's, Newfoundland, with Hogan's initials displayed prominently.
