The crucifixion with St Jerome
sketchfab
Attributed to Andrea Ferrucci (Andrea di Piero di Marco Ferrucci; Andrea da Fiesole, Fiesole 1465-1526) The Crucifixion with St Jerome Marble, carved in high relief St Jerome (c. 340-2420) is typically depicted as a hermit adoring a crucified Christ in the Syrian desert, or alternatively due to his production of a Latin translation of the Bible, as a scholar in his study. The iconography of this relief stands out for portraying him as an eyewitness to Christ's suffering on the Cross. A lion became his companion after he had removed a thorn from its paw much later in life while serving as a monk at Bethlehem. Purchased with the token fund MB-2006
