Kore statues portray young females, crafted during the Archaic period (600 – 480 BCE) as votive or commemorative tributes. Wealthy patrons commissioned these works either to serve as substitutes for themselves before the gods, or occasionally, to honor deceased family members. This ancient marble Kore was originally painted in vibrant hues. The restored image of the girl, preserved with colorful details, was unearthed in 1886 at Athens' Acropolis, showcasing remarkably well-preserved colors. By the end of the 19th century, Swiss artist Emile Gillieron Pere meticulously documented the colors and ornaments in a detailed watercolor sketch.
