Springs are utilized not only for picking up spring tests but also to evaluate how a gripper reacts to constant weights. In terms of lifting, it's far simpler with cooperative subjects, like when they wrap their arms around your neck. However, the same weight becomes more challenging to lift if it's in the form of a heavy bag. The underlying concept here is that after initially selecting a side, the gripper is increasingly influenced by the opposing side once the lifting process has commenced.
