The Captain

I've created a sculpture model based on my hometown. Check out the pictures of its creation stages. The large-scale installation at the riverbank, standing over 2 meters high (6'6"), presented significant challenges in capturing it with 123D Catch. To obtain a good capture, I had to take 70 photos and use manual stitching. You can view the capture on the 123D site: http://www.123dapp.com/catch/Capture/4085228 The 60Mb maximum resolution mesh was edited in Blender. I refined the mesh slightly and added a cylindrical base for the figurine. Using Slic3r to slice the model, I then printed it with my Prusa i3 in translucent PLA. The figurine measures about 10cm (4") in height, but its complex geometry made it difficult to remove all support material without damaging anything. To resolve this issue, I used sandpaper to clean up the figurine and painted it with acrylics. Take a look at the result; I hope you enjoy it.
