The Canonisation of Five Saints
myminifactory
The reign of Pope Alexander VIII was a brief one, spanning from October 6 to February 1, 1691. The most significant religious event during his pontificate occurred on October 16, 1690, when five saints were canonized. This was a pivotal moment in history. Following the Council of Trent, only two saints were canonized over the remainder of the sixteenth century. However, in the seventeenth century, there were a mere 24 canonizations, and this event accounted for more than 20% of that total.
