The "Bubble" An autonomous smart vehicle

This is my Genius Hour Presentation website. My project is an advanced, electric, intelligent transportation land vehicle designed to make life easier and healthier for everyone. My driving question was: how can I create something that benefits health, transportation, and overall quality of life? To showcase my vision, I have developed a 3D printable file/design for my vehicle. My idea for this project struck me while stuck in traffic on the way to soccer practice, as usual. The frustrating experience made me ask myself: why is there always traffic? Research revealed that most congestion is caused by drivers breaking laws and having accidents. This sparked an epiphany: what if we could remove human error from driving entirely? I discovered that "smart cars" already exist, but they still rely on humans to navigate them. Another inspiration came from Lego Mindstorms, which can be programmed to drive autonomously around a game field – why not apply this technology to regular cars? The movie Meet the Robinsons also sparked my imagination with its depiction of an autonomous transportation system called "Bubbles." My vision for a smart vehicle taxi/tram system uses radio waves to communicate between vehicles, enabling total autonomy. The design is compact, interlocking, and adjustable, working like a traditional taxi service where you input your destination and the vehicle takes you there. An algorithm (an if-then logic) will guide my vehicle's navigation, using a preset map to communicate with other vehicles. This system promises to revolutionize transportation by eliminating human error and making commutes safer, healthier, and more efficient for everyone.
