In Terracina, Italy, about three meters below the current floor lies a well-preserved Roman "Forum in compito Severianae," a square situated at an intersection from which Via Severiana originates. This ancient road stretches from Latium to Campania, traversing central Italy's coastline for approximately 80 Roman miles (around 118 kilometers) to Anzio. The Via Severiana was restored during the reign of Emperor Septimius Severus in 198 AD, earning its name from this significant project. The paving is crafted from local limestone, featuring slabs measuring roughly 1.60 meters long by 0.70 meters wide, with a thickness ranging from 25 to 30 centimeters. This bronze letter stands out as the only remaining inscription on the Roman Forum's title, providing valuable insight into its history and significance.
