The Brethren (cairn/standing stones), Foula
sketchfab
The Bretheren are two small standing stones, seemingly part of a kerb that forms the edge of a small cairn. At the center of this cairn lies the remnants of a cist. The cairn itself measures only about two meters in diameter. From its semi-circular kerb, the ground drops away steeply. Listed on Scotland's National Record of Historic Environment, although the corresponding record card has gone missing, this site can be found at https://canmore.org.uk/site/197/foula-the-brethren. Situated on a spur southeast of Da Sneug's summit (418m), Foula, in the Shetland Isles, Scotland, The Bretheren are easily accessible. Da Sneug is the highest hill on Foula Island, which is one of the most remote permanently inhabited islands in the United Kingdom. A ferry ride from West Mainland of Shetland takes approximately 2 hours and a quarter. The grid reference for this site is HT9486039452. Photographed on August 25th, 2017, and recreated using Agisoft MetaShape (standard) in 2020.
