The Box of Temptation
thingiverse
It's Week 40! Hell fans, and I'm bringing you the Box of Temptation. We've got a story for this one! This was LeMarchand's tenth puzzle construct, with surface panels designed to be manipulated in the same order as Anna Carter's body was disassembled by LeMarchand after she rejected his marriage proposal. "...Anna was horrified when I entered her chamber. Clearly, she had expected Madame Turtledove to keep me away from her. She screamed and threw objects in my direction. No longer the lovely girl with sad eyes that I'd fallen for, she was covered in heavy bruises and numerous scabs from my previous visit. Her sad eyes were now filled with hostility." The Journal of Philip LeMarchand reads: "Baron appeared intrigued by my designs and asked about their inspiration. As I was unsure how to respond, I told him they were constructs based on my fascination with order and geometry. He handed me back my design and said, 'You will serve us well.'" LeMarchand completed his last painting twelve days before he vanished. Titled Baron, historians believe it's a portrait of what LeMarchand refers to as a "Coenobyte," beings of supernatural order not unlike demons or angels. LeMarchand writes in his journal: "...His skin was nearly blue and pulled tight across his skull, giving him a most dreadful grin. His cheeks were rouged, and he seemed heavily perfumed. I asked if he was a Coenobite. He said he was Baron, Duke of the Order of the Gash." The Journal of Philip LeMarchand. It's said that working this box brings an intense feeling of depression to the manipulator. Like if you do, let me know if you don't. And as always, have fun and Raise hell!
