The BOSS

The BOSS

Here’s where current ideas and prototypes come together. Most prototype battery swapping stations are located underground because the batteries in prototype freight trucks are located underneath the floor of the truck. Our BOSS would be underground too. The BOSS's mechanical arms would open up a compartment to reveal the battery. One arm would remove the discharged battery, place it on a conveyor belt, and another arm would insert another, fully-charged battery. Where does that belt lead? I sure hope you’re not dumping them into a landfill or something?! Of course not! They ride the conveyor belt of the BOSS a short distance into an underground compartment, where other discharged batteries are. In this shed, they charge up to full capacity. And after that, a pallet-like wheel would turn every 60 minutes, and eject the fully charged battery. The battery is put on a different conveyor belt leading back to the swapping station, in a compartment where they’re ready to be inserted into another truck. And the whole contraption, batteries and all makes up the BOSS.
