The Black Warrior Box

Thousands of years ago, a powerful dynasty called "Jin" dominated the land, known for its lush fields and lack of disease. However, their ruler was increasingly desperate, as he feared his own mortality. In a last-ditch effort to cheat death, he commissioned hundreds of Taoist priests to create an elixir of life, but their efforts were in vain. Undeterred, the king heard rumors of a legendary Black Warrior box that granted eternal life. He rallied half of his people to search for it and, after three years of tireless effort, they finally found the box. The king stopped at nothing to try and open it, but his persistence was ultimately rewarded with bitter disappointment: the box was empty. As he opened it, the skies darkened and a devastating earthquake struck, claiming most of the "Jin" people, including their ruler. The survivors believed that their calamity was a result of having provoked the wrath of the Black Warrior. To make amends, they vowed to clean and decorate the box every year, hoping against hope for a return to peace.
