The birth of Aphrodite

This masterpiece is a dynamic interpretation of one of the most famous Greek legends depicting the birth of Aphrodite. Aphrodite, the revered ancient Greek deity of passionate love and captivating beauty, corresponds to Venus in Roman mythology. The term "aphros" from Greek signifies 'foam,' and Hesiod documents in his Theogony that Aphrodite emerged from the pristine foam created by the severed organs of Uranus (the heavens) after his son Cronus hurled them into the ocean. Aphrodite was, indeed, widely adored as a goddess of the sea and seafaring; she also received great honor as a goddess of war, especially in Sparta, Thebes, Cyprus, and other regions. Nonetheless, her primary reputation was that of a goddess of love and fertility, and occasionally she presided over marriage.
