The Bearded Flapper
thingiverse
First, here's a little story about how this project came together:\nSo I was searching for something to remix for the #RemixChallenge. I thought that The Flapper by loubie was pretty cool, so began to examine its files in Thingiview. I eventually came to the part named "loubie_flapper_dress.stl". I sat there for a good minute or two, staring at the model and wondering why the heck there was a screaming mouth as part of the design. It took me a while, but after re-reading the file name I realized what it was. As I continued looking through the list of #RemixChallenge things, I found The Bearded Yell by bendansie, and, I mean, how could I not make it?\nAnd that's the story!\nIf Bearded_Flapper_full.stl isn't printing correctly, try Bearded_Flapper.stl. It's the same thing, but without the stand at the bottom.\nUPDATE 12/30\nI added the flapper head to the mouth. You can download it: BeardedFlapperHead.stl I've also uploaded some pictures of it. (The rest of the hair is there, it's just behind the beard.)\nPrint Settings\nPrinter Brand:\n Printrbot\n \n Printer:\n Printrbot Simple Metal\n \n Rafts:\n Yes\n \n Supports:\n Yes\n \n Resolution:\n 1mm\n \n Notes:\n I set up a small fan in front of the printer for more efficient cooling. Since it was printed hollow, Fast cooling is a must.\nI had to chop off the bottom half to get a successful print. (I did end up making a lot of Angel Hair Pasta in the process)\nPost-Printing\nI was actually very surprised at how well the hair turned out. I expected it to be a big mess, but it ended up being one of my best prints yet!\nHow I Designed This\nI used the Flatten brush to get rid of the existing mouth.\nI imported the Flapper_Dress, and scaled it to approximately 0.2.\nI then moved the dress to about where the mouth was.\nAgain using the transform tool,I made some precise adjustments to fit the dress into the mouth.\nTo touch it up, I used the inflate brush around the mouth to fill any gaps.\nnote *I had to chop off the bottom half to get a successful print. You can still download the full version, though (Bearded_Flapper_full).*
