The "basically free" Z probe

Since I didn't have the budget or the time to get a BL touch or something similar, I've had to think outside the box and design my own Z probe using parts that I already had lying around - and you probably do too! The switch used is an old endstop switch that I happened to have on hand, so be sure to adjust the dimensions of the mounting holes to fit your specific switch (or get me the dimensions or a datasheet so I can make it work with whatever you've got). The actual probe is a linear rod from an optical drive that's been bent into shape using a butane torch - yes, you read that right! The mount is designed to fit on Hangtight's fan shrouds like this one: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3466809. # Assembly 1. Print the part and then screw the switch onto it while inserting the rod. 2. Mount the Z probe and connect it to your motherboard. 3. Calibrate the system and make any necessary adjustments. 4. Enjoy the benefits of a functional Z probe!
