Excavations on Cyprus uncovered an ancient structure dating back to the Hellenistic era. A compact courtyard measuring nearly square stood out on the west side of the unearthed area adjacent to a bustling street. At its center, an impressive cistern known as an impluvium caught attention. Four sturdy Nabatean columns arranged in a tetrastyle formation supported the roof above. The distinctive Nabatean style, reminiscent of the Greek Ionian style but with simpler elements, emerged as a unique feature in Paphos during the early Roman period, marking a previously unseen architectural influence in the region.
