The Archaeologists Shoes 2

Between 1978 and 1984, archaeologists from the Landscape Research Centre conducted extensive excavations at Cook's Quarry, West Heslerton, clearing several hectares of archaeological sites ahead of sand extraction operations. Each summer, they set up camp on site to facilitate their long-term excavations. At the end of each season, a large refuse pit was dug and refilled with debris from the many excavation vehicles. Before the quarry removed the former campsite, new excavations continued to uncover this site's significant prehistoric history. In one remarkable find, archaeologists recovered a pair of nearly 30-year-old Dr. Martens boots. Despite challenging lighting conditions, the boots were rephotographed and modeled for detailed documentation.
