The Any Shield - The easily 3D printable face shield

Over the past few weeks I have witnessed incredible 3D printing and maker movements supporting the medical community, such as Prusa Research's initiative (\https://www.prusa3d.com/covid19/\). Despite my initial skepticism due to size limitations and doubts about my own printing abilities, I decided to take action. Observing nurses at hospitals using makeshift protective gear, I realized that quick, reusable, and affordable face shields are desperately needed to safeguard hospital workers. With this in mind, I designed a shield that can be crafted from readily available materials on a small 3D print bed. The result is a clip system that accommodates most clear plastics, creating an instant barrier between the wearer and their surroundings. This design is currently being printed and distributed to medical professionals at Los Angeles area hospitals. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my father, Steven, for fueling the design process with his expertise (and modeling the shield). I want to emphasize that I am not a professional engineer; I'm simply a student seeking to contribute during this crisis. Face shields are not a replacement for proper masks and other personal protective equipment but serve as an additional layer of protection when used in conjunction with these essential tools.
