The Alexa Magnetic Car Mount

The Alexa Magnetic Car Mount

I had a nagging problem and an idea that went with it, even before I heard about the Sindoh Smart Assistant Design Challenge. Playing music in my car is one of my favorite things to do, but often I want to switch up my playlist or listen to a specific song while driving. This led me to make a reckless decision - using my phone to change the song while behind the wheel, taking my eyes off the road and onto my screen. I tried getting Siri to help me out, but she didn't play nice with Spotify, so I started looking for an alternative. As someone who's into engineering and owns a 3D printer, along with some CAD skills up my sleeve, I began working on a solution. I've always thought Amazon's Alexa was cool for listening to music, so why not give it a shot? I designed a simple magnetic car mount for Alexa that's been serving me well since February 2019 without any issues. Now, I can listen to whatever I want whenever I want - all while keeping my eyes on the road! The best part is, you can do the same. My Alexa Magnetic Car Mount uses my phone's hotspot and a 3-amp car charger to get connected to the internet. You can find the car charger I use here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GP4KBKF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I like this one because it has two USB ports, so I can charge my phone at the same time. The magnet hole is designed for a DIYMAG neodymium disc magnet found here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XD2X45M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.
