The Adjustable Leg

The Adjustable Leg

grabcad

This design presents an affordable prosthetic leg made via 3D printing, which can be adjusted for size and length, and features a flexible sleeve and durable support piping. The sleeve is adjustable to fit any leg diameter, crucial for growing recipients. Support piping uses carbon fiber tubing for durability. Polypropylene is used for its flexibility in the sleeve assembly while polycarbonate is utilized for impact resistance elsewhere. The prosthetic leg's parts are ideally produced using poly-jet 3D printing due to its versatility, allowing both rubber-like and rigid components on one machine. Developed by students at Grand Haven High School under the guidance of Instructor Jeremy Case, this innovative design offers a cost-effective solution for those who have lost part or all of their leg.
