The 3D Printable Braille Typeface Project
thingiverse
I decided to design a custom typeface with Braille embedded on top after seeing some typefaces created specifically for the visually impaired. To achieve this, I crafted each letter form in Adobe Illustrator and then imported SVG files into Blender to extrude and shape them. The letter forms adhere strictly to the guidelines outlined in the documentation provided by the Braille Authority, ensuring that they can be easily scaled up or down as needed. This project was heavily influenced by Kosuke Takahashi's groundbreaking Braille Neue project and other pioneering works that have explored similar concepts. I drew inspiration from these innovative designs and incorporated their ideas into my own creation. If you notice any errors, suggest specific changes, or envision alternative applications for this typeface, please feel free to comment.
