I wanted to keep tabs on my 3D printer remotely without breaking the bank. The $9 ESP32-CAM module was the perfect solution for me. However, with my 3D printer located far from my WiFi router, I realized that the built-in antenna just wasn't getting a strong enough signal. So, I opted for a separate IPEX (also known as U-FL) to SMA 2.4GHz antenna, which gave me an extra 3dB of gain and established a reliable connection. I based my design on mojocorp's excellent work and added a few features to make it even better. The updated design includes a SMA antenna mount on the top side, additional vents for improved airflow, a snap-in place back cover, and an adjustable swivel mount with embedded magnets. I also attached a small piece of steel flat bar to my printer's side to secure the magnet. If you'd like to modify this design to fit your needs, I've included the original Fusion360 .F3D and .STEP files for your convenience.
