TGV Duplex
thingiverse
The TGV Duplex are electric train cars of the SNCF, put into service from 1995 to 2012. As their name indicates, they consist of two-level cars. The circulation inside the train car occurs at the upper level, offering more calmness for passengers seated in the lower level of each car. The lower floor of the bar car is not accessible to passengers, because it is occupied by electrical equipment. The Duplex trains have a higher transport capacity of 133 seats than the TGV Réseau: a train made up of eight cars (200 meters long) has 182 first-class seats and 328 second-class seats, totaling 510 seats. Additionally, 634 second-class seats are available in the "Ouigo" arrangement. The design of these trains was pushed very far, particularly in the field of mass reduction (by using aluminum instead of steel for the car structure, except for locomotives), to comply with the rule of 17 tons per axle required on French high-speed lines.
