A simple jar with a rounded base and top is just what's needed for a school project. Trying out different options, the easiest way to get text on the side comes from here: http://forum.openscad.org/It-seems-no-way-to-put-text-on-the-curved-surface-td20182.html (credit goes to droftarts!). Note that previewing or rendering takes a long time for higher values of 'slices' in the circular_text() module.
