Textile fastener - 2 prong
thingiverse
This two-piece device, inspired by Thingiverse's original design (www.thingiverse.com/thing:7544), allows you to securely grip various fabrics without causing damage. The derivative simplifies the star base into a two-pronged structure to reduce polymer usage and print time. This versatile tool has numerous home applications, including using six fasteners, a blanket, and two poles for stretcher creation; two fasteners and a blanket for hammock formation; or four fasteners and a plastic sheet/tarp for an emergency tent. Additionally, it can be utilized for greenhouse or row guard construction, food transportation in a flexible box, improving tarps by fixing popped grommets, joining multiple tarps, creating custom waterproof covers, and holding tarps in unique ways for various functions like rainwater collection or roof leak protection. STL files are available for printing both the star and lock components on open-source rapid prototypers like RepRap. Instructions for use involve wrapping the lock in fabric and pushing it through the star hole, then turning the lock 90 degrees to secure the fabric in place. To remove, follow steps in reverse. The device's design also features multiple holes for tie lines or nails based on specific applications. Feel free to share suggestions for improvement.
