TEVO z-nut print in place gimbal
thingiverse
I designed this for my old-school Tevo Tarantula, where the gimbal I'm currently using no longer cuts it. To create something more streamlined, I decided to make a print-in-place part that requires precise tolerances to prevent sticking together. Only a few millimeters of movement are needed to compensate for a slightly untrue lead screw. However, if you have more than 3mm of bend in your extrusion, this design might not be suitable. Full disclosure: I haven't installed or tested it yet. If you want to try it out and provide feedback, I'll make the necessary adjustments. Otherwise, I'll update the files and description once I've had a chance to install and test it myself. Here's a video showing how it should move - https://youtu.be/o6UZLNNiGrQ UPDATE: I added .step and .f3d files so you can remix them as desired. Enjoy! Another UPDATE! I made a version that allows the Z extrusion to separate in case of collision or if one of two z motors fails. This version is in two pieces - 'Crash Body' and 'Crash Gimbal'. The "gimbal" portion is separate from the "body" attached to the extrusion. Since I haven't printed or tested this yet, please feel free to share any feedback you have.
