Tevo Tornado Advanced Bed Leveling Knob
thingiverse
Yet another bed leveling knob, but with a difference inspired by https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2603493 for the CR-10. Taking the concept as a starting point, I set out to create something similar for the Tevo Tornado. Unlike the CR-10 which relies on an M4 bolt for bed support, the Tornado employs M5 bolts with a thread pitch of 0.8mm. This unique setup allows for precise control over bed height adjustments. By dividing the circumference of the knob into 8 equal segments, moving it by 1/8 rotation will raise or lower the bed by 0.1mm. Each segment is further divided into 5 sub-segments, each one adjusting the bed height by a mere 0.02mm. Following user feedback regarding errors in the STL file, I employed Slic3r's repair function to rectify the issue. The resulting corrected file, TTABLK_fixed.obj, is now available for download. As a newcomer to 3D object creation and FreeCAD usage, this project was a steep learning curve. While the design dimensions are accurate, actual printing of the knobs proved challenging. To compensate for discrepancies in XY size, I adjusted Slic3r's settings to -0.2, ensuring the knobs fit properly but unfortunately compromising the surface finish. To highlight the markings and numbers on the knob, I utilized a white paint marker. Regrettably, the result was less than ideal due to the thin consistency of the paint, which flowed along layer lines. A more viscous alternative is recommended for future prints. Upon achieving optimal printer settings, these knobs will be re-printed with improved results.
