Tevo Titan upgraded filament guide
thingiverse
This is a modified filament guide designed specifically for TEVO Titan extruders. However, I am unsure if it fits the original e3d Titan model. This upgrade addresses issues related to printing flexible filaments. Key differences between this and the standard guide are: 1. The original guide features a 5mm diameter conical entrance that meets the PTF bowden at a depth of about 7mm, creating an ideal spot for filament curl-up and jamming. In contrast, my upgraded version allows the bowden to fully pass through the guide, meeting the drive nut and pulley before the filament exits. As soon as it leaves the drive nut, it is captured by a tight, smooth PTF tube leading up to the hotend. 2. The original Titan extruder's filament guide was not perfectly aligned with the guide pulley. To rectify this, I have slightly offset the new guide. A photo (showcasing an initial prototype with excessive misalignment) demonstrates this difference. Notes: 1. Two versions of the guide are available: one with a 4.5mm hole and another requiring drilling to achieve a 4.1mm diameter. If your printer produces smaller holes, the 4.1mm version will likely need modification before use. 2. After passing the bowden through the new guide, ensure it is trimmed as shown in the photo for proper installation. 3. For easier assembly, load both the bowden and "one-way lock nut" into the extruder body from a side while the transparent part remains detached. 4. Be cautious when handling the spring pushing the guide pulley, as it tends to escape during disassembly; secure it before replacing the transparent part. 5. Reloading filaments might be slightly more challenging due to the reduced entrance size but this wasn't a significant issue for me. Update: I've enhanced the design for an even better fit, uploading two versions: one with a 4.1mm hole (likely needing drilling) and another with a 4.5mm hole suitable for immediate use, even if your printer produces smaller holes. This updated guide is longer than its predecessor, ensuring a gap of less than 0.5mm between the pulley and drive wheels. The new design intentionally features a slight deviation from perpendicularity to ensure better alignment (the original TEVO extruder was not perfectly perpendicular either). In one photo, I've highlighted an additional bolt added for stabilization; it's essential to drill this axis slightly larger to accommodate the bolt without causing the release arm to wobble. This adjustment also enables tightening of the tension spring for a firmer grip on the filament. Please share your experience with this upgrade, as feedback is highly appreciated and will encourage further creation of useful items.
