Tevo Tarantula X Tensioner/Increased Axis
thingiverse
This update expands on Banholm's original design, but each carriage has undergone modifications to eliminate inner guide wheels and fully open up the upper track. This allows the X carriage to travel from true zero to its maximum range of 248mm. However, I still need to adjust a firmware setting as updating the X travel range resulted in a discrepancy - true zero now reads at -13 while true MAX remains at 235. To resolve this issue, I combined both readings to achieve an accurate measurement of 248. A crucial consideration was eliminating the inner wheels, but I'm confident in my decision due to the presence of dual Z lead screws. These screws ensure the carriage remains aligned and on track, complemented by the tension from the X belt that helps keep the opposing carriages properly seated. This setup effectively guides the carriage and prevents any potential issues. I tested this concept by removing all inner wheels a few days ago, and have been printing extensively since then. It wasn't until this morning that I had the opportunity to use the revised tensioner carriage, which has resolved any existing problems and made the set mechanically sound. I recommend using an M3x30mm screw for the idler pulley above the motor pulley to counteract side torsion caused by a tight X belt. As of 9/20/17, I uploaded a modified tensioner backing plate in anticipation of adding a gimbal or coupler. Users should choose one design over the other for optimal results.
