Tevo Tarantula Fangs ( cooling fan duct )
thingiverse
I just upgraded to the "longfang" version, finally fed up with my initial layers getting obscured when I need to tweak the Z! axis. Now it's mounted above the extruder fan with necessary modifications. Also, I recently switched from the standard 10mm (x30x30) fan to a 15mm type. I might need to create a 5mm spacer for standard fans soon. Currently printing... If any changes are needed, I'll update again! Print cooling fan duct thingy for the Tevo Tarantula. It looks like a set of fangs after finishing the design, so why not? Very effective cooling, the fan clips on (no bolt!) but does need 5mm longer screws to attach to existing hotend cooling fan. Designed specifically for radial blower fans, not axial types. I might modify and add at some point... unlikely! This one actually wires into the socket on the board labeled "fan", unlike the other two fans (that should be attached directly to the 12v power supply... unless there's another place to stick them?). Print Settings Printer: Tarantula, Tevo Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: .2mm works fine if you don't need super fine finish... Infill: It's 99% hollow already, but I used 30% infill. Notes: Maybe it's just my thermistors aren't calibrated yet (heck, I've only had this thing for a short time , still haven't played around much!) but I find I need to set it at least 260C for ABS or I get delamination... Post-Printing Pop it off and clean off the strings, if any... acetone bath if you want it all shiny and smooth. Yes, I tend to only use ABS... How I Designed This Used SketchUp, as always. Laid out the basic dimensions of the hotend, then drew around that. Fitted first go, but did have to adjust a few things, such as the ducts being a tad too close to the hotend and melting at first. Decided 1/2mm clearance between ducts and prints wasn't really enough, so I messed around with angles etc. Added guide vanes into the ducts because the air tended to come out at the far end more at first... Currently, the two streams combine and give very nice airflow with the old "smoke" test.
