Tevo Tarantula Bowden Extruder Flexible Filament Mod with PTFE Clamp
thingiverse
Two major flaws in the standard Tarantula extruder setup are a huge gap after the hobbed gear and poor quality PC4 connectors that allow your PTFE Bowden tube to shift during retractions and linear advance. Even PTFE clips can't fully resolve this issue, so I designed a modified top half for the extruder. This piece achieves several goals: it increases filament clamping force by shortening the spring gap a couple of mm, making it equivalent to adding a few washers to the stock setup; it allows for flexible filaments by reducing the likelihood of them bending out of the extruder and causing clogs; and it stops the Bowden tube from wobbling during printing by fitting snugly into the extruder. The design includes provision for M3 hardware to clamp the Bowden tube, recommending an M3 x 14mm Pan head screw and standard M3 Nylon lock nut. It also fits any standard Nema17 type motor with 31mm bolt spacing using original hardware, and is sized to accept a hobbed gear of 11mm diameter, making it compatible with standard Tevo hobbed gears.
