Tevo Tarantula 8mm Rod Y-Axis and Printed Bed Support

Yet another Y-Axis upgrade for the Tevo Tarantula is revealed, utilizing two 8mmx400mm linear rods and two 8LUU (longer version) linear rod bearing holders. The Center to Center spacing of the 8mm rods measures 152.58mm. Originally intended to create a composite PETG and Aluminum bed support bracket, the plan shifted after printing out the two center pieces of the support bracket from 3DXTech's CF PETG. A mishap occurred while drilling one of the aluminum pieces, prompting the decision to construct the rest of the bed support using CF PETG. The pictures showcase one of the two bed support center pieces paired with Aluminum plates (2" x 1/8", cut 220mm long). The two center pieces can still be used in conjunction with Aluminum pieces as depicted in one image. A drill template is included in the files for this purpose. To facilitate a snug fit, several test files have been provided to help users determine the ideal settings for their printer. Print the Rod End Supports with the 8mm holes facing upwards and with support. These pieces were printed on a CR-10 printer after partially disassembling the Tarantula. The rod supports were printed in PETG at 0.2mm/layer, with 25% infill, 5 layers of top and bottom material, and an additional layer outside. In contrast, the Carriage/bed support bracket parts were printed at 0.1mm/layer using 3DXTech CF PETG on a Flash Forge Creator Pro with Micro Swiss all-metal hot end upgrade on a glass bed. A small hole in the bottom of each 8mm hole allows air to escape when inserting the rod. Once both rods are inserted into the rod end supports, the outside measurement should be 406mm, resulting in 302mm of movement along the Y-Axis. A new Y-Axis limit switch mounting bracket is included with an offset for the mounting holes, allowing users to mount it closer to the motor mount. This piece was printed using 3DXTech CF PETG at 0.1mm/layer (identical to the bed support brackets). The Tevo Tarantula is currently not in service as it will be undergoing further modifications. On August 09, 2017, a request was made to modify the 8mm rod holder brackets with "thru" holes. The resulting brackets bear this name, featuring actual thru-holes for the rods. Required hardware includes eight 4mm x 14mm bolts to secure the sliding rails and eight 3mm x 14mm bolts with locking nuts to secure the bed parts together.
