Tevo Flexible Filament Extruder Upgrade
thingiverse
I designed and built a new extruder top for the Bowden extruder that comes with my Tevo Tarantula, making it possible to feed flexible filament into the printer. The new extruder works perfectly with Makerflex from Makergeeks, but I have not yet tried Ninjaflex. As you can see in the photo, the design is a copy of the original, but with tighter tolerances that prevent the filament from escaping out the sides and instead feed it directly into the tube. The hole for the tube fitting is specifically designed to accommodate a 6mm thread fitting. I used a different fitting myself, but the original one should fit just fine. I was asked to post the bottom half of the extruder top, so here it is. This part is designed to work with 4mm bolts on the roller and spring holder, as well as a 3mm screw that goes into the stepper motor. The roller itself has a diameter of 13mm, which is the same size as the one that came with my Tevo Tarantula. I hope you have fun printing with this new extruder top! Print settings used to create it include a MicroMake D1 printer, no rafts or supports, a nozzle resolution of 0.4mm and a layer height of 0.2mm, and an infill density of 30%. You may need to run a drill bit through the extruder after printing to remove any burrs on the inside of the throat.
