its geometry depends on a tetrahedral arrangement of four spheres. the edge intersection of the smaller spheres when measured is proportional to the arc traced as a diameter across the smaller sphere's surface. Pi (3.14159...) is only a projection of this into a 2D surface. Hence Pi is not equal to an exact number like 3.
