Tetrapod candle mold
prusaprinters
A mold to cast candles in the shape of tetrapod wave-breakers. They burn like normal candles if you stand them up and only light the top arm. If they're piled up, or lit from multiple arms, they burn faster and more unreliably. Perhaps best as just decoration.Print the following:1 pcs mold bottom3 pcs mold sides4 pcs collarsThe funnel is optional. I found it easier to pour the wax using a little stick as a guide, instead of the funnel, which could jam up.I included the STL for the resulting tetrapod shape for reference. You don't need to print this.Build the mold using the circular collars. It is designed to be quite tight, so use a mallet or something similar to gently knock it all into place. Stretch two lengths of wick inside the mold while building the mold.Melt some candle wax. I melted random candles I had around, and some tealights for the shop. There is no leak-preventing gaskets or ridges in the mold. I found that the wax would not easily leak if you let it cool down to just before it would start to re-solidify, and then pour it.Wax shrinks while it cools. You might want to pour in an extra 20% of wax after 10 minutes or so, to refill the void created by the shrinking wax.
