Arquimedes solids Archimedean solids, also known as the 13 Archimedean solids, are a set of convex polyhedra in three-dimensional space. These unique shapes were first described by the ancient Greek mathematician and inventor Archimedes around the 3rd century BC. The Archimedean solids are distinguished from the Platonic solids, which have regular polygons as faces, by having at least two distinct types of regular polygon faces.
